Nahla’s Sizzling Shawarma Rice is a delicious lunch or dinner meal with seasoned basmati rice, topped with chicken shawarma sizzled with carrots and onions. This style of shawarma sometimes is referred as Egyptian shawarma.
The ingredient board shows all the key elements to make up this easy to make dish.
Seasoned Rice Ingredients
3 tbsp canola oil
250g long grain brown basmati rice
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp chicken soup stock
Sizzling Shawarma Ingredients
1 tsp olive oil
8oz slow roasted chicken shawarma
1/2 cup of sliced carrots
1/2 cup of sliced onions
For the dish: Garlic & Hot Sauce
Seasoned Rice Cooking Instructions:
Add oil then the vermicelli into the cooking pot with low heat, stir the vermicelli until it turns golden brown.
Add 1/4 litre of hot water, then rice, salt and chicken soup stock at high heat. Stir the mixture well.
Bring the pot to boil, then reduce to low heat to simmer, cover the pot.
Turn off the heat after 5 min when the water is gone and you can see rice reaching the water line.
Leave the lid on the pot for another 15 min to bring both rice and vermicelli to fully cooked.
Sizzling Shawarma Cooking Instructions:
Add oil to the cooking pan at medium heat, add carrots and onions with a pinch of salt.
Stir carrots and onions well for a couple of minutes then add shawarma in.
Pour a little bit of hot water in then mix the chicken well with the carrots and onion.
